Giveaway and New 2012 Goal

I have done a lot of stitchy pondering and thinking over the weekend.  And that usually means purging and cleaning house, which of course means a giveaway for you!!!  I did get rid of a lot of stash a while ago on Ebay, and this giveaway is the absolute last of it.  YES, you read right.  After this giveaway there will be no stitchy stash in my house save for my goal project for 2012, a Heaven and Earth Designs pattern!!!!

Now, while you catch your break and recover from your breakdown, let me explain.  I have wanted to stitch a HAED design for as long as I have known about them.  Have I done so?  Not yet.  And in my quest to pare down and not buy any stash in 2012, this seemed like a good way to do it.  Between the 90 skeins of DMC, a bobbin box, the pattern, and the fabric, I spent $54.  And save for running out of a DMC or two, I will not have to purchase anything further for this project.

The pattern I chose was Hannah Disney's QS Butterfly Keeper.  I know this is a large undertaking and a lot of you may think I have jumped onto the crazy wagon.  This will be monumental for me if I can complete this goal in 2012.  Diary of a Manbroider is my complete and utter inspiration.  He has completed MULTIPLE HAED designs, all breathtakingly gorgeous!

So, now to the giveaway.  One lucky winner will receive the following:

Shepherd's Bush The Journey~pattern and silk (no fabric)
A scrap piece of 40 count Iced Cappuccino R&R Linen (approximately 8 by 9)
Little House Needleworks Little Miss Sunflower pattern and all threads
Little House Needleworks Warm Winter Woolens and all threads
Country Cottage Needleworks January Cottage and all threads
Bent Creek Thankful Quaker and some of the threads
Little House Needleworks Frosty Flakes ornament pattern
Country Cottage Needleworks Vintage Christmas pattern
Country Cottage Needleworks Gingerbread Houses pattern
Lizzie Kate Ho Ho Ho Quick It pattern and all threads (The snowman is highlighted a bit on the pattern)
Shepherd's Bush Merry Be Pincushion kit.  I have started this and will include my started piece on the 6 by 6 Qsnap (you can see it in the picture)

All you need to do to enter is just leave me a comment telling me either your 2012 stitchy goal(s) or what your motivation is to complete a large project, especially if you have completed a HAED.

I will choose a winner Christmas morning.  Good luck to all of you who enter!

I leave you with a pic of our Christmas tree this year.

Oh my, I am sure glad I was sitting down when I read your post! You are so good to not be buying anymore stash for 2012.

On my blog I have a wishlist of the projects I want to complete for 2012, many of them are SALs which will keep me motivated. I am also stitching a HAED (Train of Dreams) and my aim for next year is to get 10 pages completed in between the rest of the things I want to stitch.

Reading other stitching blogs also helps when working on big projects I think.

I wish you speedy needles for the HAED and I hope beyond hope the frog stays away from you for the whole of 2012. I look forward to seeing your progress

My heart skipped a beat but your goal is a good one.

I'd love to be entered. My 2012 goal is to FRAME and HANG my 2011 projects. We are going to learn by doing.

Hi i would love to be entered pretty please :)
my movitovation for HAED Strength, was to see my dads face when i gave it to him. this is the only HAED one i have done so far but i have a few more lined up!It was also the first peice of stitching i have given away. The sense of satisfaction when i put the last stitch in was well worth the hours i spent swearing at it!

My heart also skipped a beat... but I do also understand... I have a few large projects that I have started only to get distracted by the smaller ones.

I stitch demo's for a shop owner and a designer... so I dont get to stitch for myself as much as I would like. I have planned in 2012 to goal and ornament a month... and then also to work on 2 large pieces that I have started... Peaceful Paradise, and CCH- Villiages of Hawk Run. I would love to be able to stitch the villiages... and then start the Ocean one! We will see about that one though!

2011 was goaled to frame some of the larger ones that I wanted to get hanging and I DID IT!!! yes!!!

Please enter me in this lovely giveaway...and good luck with you HAED Stitch Marathon!

What a wonderful giveaway.

I wish you all the best in your HAED goals. They are gorgeous designs.

I don't set many goals because I know I am easily distracted by other projects - I can't seem to resist Mystery SALs for one thing.

However, I am determined to finish my TW Peacock Tapestry in 2012. I am so close and I know I can do it.

While I absolutely love Heaven and Earth, I don't think I have the guts to go for it, so I am going to live this dream vicariously through you. :D

My goal for next year is to pay off my student loan which is just under 3500 dollars now. It's going to take a lot of willpower to do it. I picked out my projects for next year, sorted through my stash, and bought what I didn't have to complete them. They're all kitted up and ready to go. So while I wish you a lot of luck in your H&E year, I'm going to need some too with my goal!

Merry Christmas and I hope you have a wonderful new Year! :D

Please enter me in your giveaway. I hope you have much success with your HAED and I will be watching as I hope sometime to stitch one. My goals for next year are to stitch an ornament a month and get some of my bigger pieces finished and complete my WIPs of which I have six. I am also hoping to stitch Lavender and Lace's Spirit of Christmas as my son has asked me to stitch it.

How exciting! Please enter my name Danielle :o) I have somewhat planned out my 2012 goals and they are to stitch an ornament sized piece a month, finish a UFO, start and finish a SAL and stitch a piece for the baby :o)

Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Your tree is gorgeous! My goal in 2012 is to stitch from my stash and not buy new except for threads needed. I have done a few large pieces over the course of a year. I do so much on it in a month. Like the CaHRH I did 1 square a month. I would love to win your giveaway. Thanks for your generosity. Have a wonderful holiday!

Your tree is beautiful! I would love to be included in your giveaway. I love quick to stitch designs and haven't jumped into a large project. My to do list includes Shores of Hawk Run by Carriage House but I haven't taken the plunge. I looked forward to following your progress on an HAED and I hope you will be my inspiration to start and FINISH a large project.

I, also, am going on the wagon for 2012. I have decided on joining Measi's 2012 Wipocalypse. I have more WIPs and UFOs than I care to admit, and now the time has come to indulge in an all out Bacchanalian fest of WIPS and UFOs. I plan on starting with what's next to my stitching spot and just going from there. The bags that they reside in are all ready to go, so I just have to pick one at random and go for it. I even have a few HAEDs that need working on, so I would be happy to join you in stitching mine up. (I have two started and two more kitted up. o.O).

Thank you so much for the chance and good luck everyone in 2012 with your stitchy goals!

Your tree looks so pretty! That is some undertaking for 2012! How very brave, I am not sure I could do it.
I am most definitely a smalls stitcher.
I like the pattern you have chosen, really vibrant colours and I love the key tied to her arm.
I don't have any stitchy goals for 2012, simply to have fun with my stitching. I'll be cheering you on :-)
Please count me in for the giveaway.
Good luck x

Oooo, exciting! HAEDs are wonderful but massive! I think you need to definitely grid your fabric beforehand so you don't get lost in the pattern.

I would love a chance at your giveaway. My goal for 2012 will be to stitch and complete Mirabilia Fairy Moon and Chatelaine Taj Mahal. I think I've lost my senses and gone crazy but I'm going to try! lol

Please can you enter me into your giveaway.
You are brave starting HAED I have started 3 in the past but now are in my UFO pile one day I may try again.

My goal for next year is to stitch a Christmas ornament every month.

Have a great Christmas.

My goal is to do what you have done, clean out my stash and stop acquiring patterns at such a hectic pace. Nonetheless, as I have been lusting after several of the patterns you listed, please include me in your giveaway and I will be good after this :)

Danielle, I don't think I could ever purge my stash!

My list for 2012 keeps evolving!

I have decided to participate in the Crazy 15 January Challenge. My list is on my blog here: http://addictedtostitchin.blogspot.com/p/crazy-15-2012.html

I also have an HAED WIP - Queen of Hearts. I'm 3000 stitches in but will be rotating her between my crazy 15 throughout the years - My goal for finishing her is a long time away yet. Several years in fact, LOL. She's a present for my DH.

In 2011 I managed to work on an complete all but two of my old UFOs/WIPs - one of those is still a WIP the other is likely to stay a UFO for years to come - so I feel I can begin new projects in 2012 pretty much guilt free!

I'd love to be entered in your giveaway please.

Merry Christmas!

I definitely want to be in on this one, a lot of what you mentioned is on my wish list! I just got in One Nation and threads in the mail yesterday so that is my big project for next year. I can't wait to get started on it. I still need to purchase the fabric. Just seeing a little more done on a project everyday from a blank piece of fabric is my motivation whether it be a large or small project. Good luck on the not buying in 2012...that's quite an undertaking! Merry Christmas to you guys!!!

I admire your courage! I admit I am afraid of HAED! My goal for 2012 is to stitch two memorial samplers, the first for my mother - in- law who passed away in February this year and for my mother who passed away in August. It has been a tough year for my family, and I am looking forward to healing in 2012.

My motivation for completing a large project is easy to explain - my larger projects are almost always gifts, and I want to get them completed and to their intended recipients! What a wonderful giveaway. Thanks for sharing, and congratulations on your determination!

Denise said...

We must be on the same wavelength! My goals for 2012 is to finish Colorful Sky by Mystic Stitch, work on Birch Forest by MS and my extremely big lighthouse. Maybe throw in some other larger projects that I have on hand - I'm trying to limit my small finishes this year! If I only finish 6 - so be it! lol But, there are 2 SAL in there too.

My motivation is just loving the project and then having someone mistake it for a print. Way too fun explaining it's stitching.

Good luck with your HAED

My goal is to stitch from charts I already own and get rid of many charts that I will never stitch.

Merry Christmas and I love your tree.

Please count me in too. My stitching goals for 2012 are to finish Guardian Angel and Summer Fairy. Make my first xmas ornament and learn to master the French Knot!

Happy Stitching!!!

I look forward to watching your HAED grow on your blog!

My goals for 2012 are pretty simple. I hope to finish the Anniversary Sampler I started for DH and I and at least 1 of the 2 Teresa Wentzler UFO's I have. To help me with this I signed up for Measi's WIPocalypse. Whether this actually helps me or not I don't know LOL

Your tree looks fantastic!

I would appreciate being included in your giveaway. :)

Wonderful tree!

Love to be included in your giveaway, thank you for the chance.

My goals for 2012 is to stitch an ornament a month. I have so many of these charts but did not get down to stitch them. Joining a SAL is always my motivation to finishing a big project. Postings of progress and encouragement from fellow stitchers really help to speed the project along.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Danielle, Please count me in for your giveaway. Best of luck with your HAED next year. Beautiful choice. I have lots of projects on the go and I keep seeing more I would like to do. I am impressed by your singlemindedness - I am sure that you will get your HAED done successfully.

My inspiration to get lots of stitching done next year (although I do jump around from project to project) will be the UCJC and the WIPocalypse and the SALs I am doing with some fellow bloggers. Cross stitch blogging is so inspiring.

Hugs, Kaye xoxox

What an amazing giveaway, please include me in the draw.
My stitching goal for next year is pretty simple, and the same as last year's, just to stitch a little every single day.
Good luck with your HAED project, I'll look forward to watching it grow

What a beautiful tree.
What a generous giveaway you are offering! I would love to be included in your drawing.

My stitchy goal for 2012 is to start The Shores of Hawks Run Hollow. I have stitched the Village and Christmas at Hawks Run Hollow, so this will add to the series. It will take awhile!!

Your christmas tree is beautiful. Thank you for the chance to win. The first piece I will work on is a piece by Margaret & Margaret Called Many Mansions Sampler. I really like this scripture, I look forward to my mansion in heaven.

Good for you, Danielle!!! :D I can't wait to see your Butterfly WIPs next year. :D

I so need to get going on my 2012 plans, they're rumbling around in my head making a LOT of noise. LOL!!! As for motivation, I like finishes so that drives me along. I usually know where something is going before I start it, so imagining it on the wall propels me, that's the case with the Chatelaines.

When I stitched Metamorphosis, I did that in bouts and for the times when I was stitching her, she had my complete attention, to the exclusion of all others. The Sylph QS took me 2 weeks I believe. Again, it was cos I wanted it done and up on the wall.

Do you know where you're going to display Butterfly? ;)

Wow! You are unlike most of the stitchers I read about, who want to increase their stash instead of narrowing it all down to ONE project! With no distractions, you'll be done in no time!

I'm jumping into 2012 head-first into the Crazy January Challenge (Ultimate) and planning to start 31 new projects, 1 for each day in January, and I might keep starting new ones in February, too. Who knows if I'll finish them all in 2012, but at least I'll have some WIPs to choose from for variety!

Your Christmas tree is beautiful.

Hi, from a new follower! I have never stitched a HAED, but I have completed a couple of pretty large projects and it is always very satisfying to do that! I have signed up for lots of challenges and SALs for the coming year...my only real goal is to complete at least a few of them! I look forward to seeing your progress on your HAED. Thanks for the chance to enter your drawing.

Your tree is gorgeous. The one time that I was able to get caught up with my stitching was when I was expecting our first child and got put on three months of bed rest. It was a kinda scary time --- but I did get a lot of stitching done. I also find that I stitch more when I'm out of town by myself.
Otherwise, I just pick up one project and work a few days, then move back to another project, and so on. So, my goal for 2012 is to wrap up a couple of projects that I am really close to finishing.

My goals for 2012 - well I've joined the Crazy January Challenge so have 15 projects all ready to go. I am also wanting to complete my Woodland Enchantress - I started her this year but have only stitched 2500 of her almost 27000 stitches. I also want to complete at all my other UFOs that have been giving me the evil eye!

Wow.. What a goal to accomplish, and I hope you do xx
My stitching goal for 2011 was to stitch 2 SB stockings for my 2 children..and I did.
2012 is to stitch the SB kits I brought back from the US last year -2010, I haven't touched, and to chart out 11 generations of mothers for my mothers tree so,I can start it.
Now if Aussies can enter your giveaway I would love too.

You got rid of all your stash?? Good luck in 2012 with your HAED. I think they're awesome but I can't commit myself to doing one, lol.

Your tree is really beautiful!

In 2012, my goal is to finish Blossom Splendor and do a lot of work on Japanese Garden.

I can't tell you how to keep focused on the HAED since I wouldn't be able to work on just one project all year.

ArtsyFartsy Panda said...

You have a awesome tree! Nice and fat and full! Lovely!
I'll be stitching my first HAED too. Welcome to loony-ville. But you're still smart about it. YOu're doing a QS. I went ahead and decided to try the BIIIIIIG kind. Sigh... 2 years to go before I finish it I guess. :)

While I won't be stitching a HAED in 2012, I will continue to work on Flower Power by Crossed Wing Collection. At 4 x 3 ft, I thing it fits the large project column. I just like to stitch on it a bit here and there, with a few smaller pieces thrown in for when I get bored of the flowers or humming birds. But I do love the way large projects finish up!

What a great goal for 2012! I just know you will be successful! I look forward to keeping up with your progress.

My stitching goal(s) for 2012 are to start and finish the Susquehanna Valley sampler that my husband gave me (no small undertaking) and to stitch and finish 6 ornaments.

Thank you for offering such wonderful gifties in your giveaway! I would love to enter...and promise to provide a good home to your stash!
